The Visual Diary
Starting from Scratch

vasili katakis imageThursdays, September 8-Octoer 27, 2016, 9:00 am-12 noon. Artists think on paper, and each artist approaches a drawing or painting differently. Some research their subject ahead of time and make detailed sketches - while others work more spontaneously. Weather composing a still life, or selecting a landscape sight, sketchbooks become valuable tools for reference back at the studio. This class will help you develop the relationship between your sketches and your finished work. We will be journaling, visually and with the written word, regarding subjects in personal detail. We will discover how basic techniques used to record your thoughts can initiate “creative spark”. Topics covered will include: sketching techniques, perceptual drawing, gesture, notan, intuitive perspective, image development and just plain fun! Class will meet in the studio and at various locations in Albuquerque. Please sign up early: class size is limited.
Members: $245. - Non Members $265. To register contact: www.newmexicoartleague.org or call 505-293-5034

Color and composition are key elementsSaturdays September 10 - October 29, 2016, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon Color and composition are key elements contributing to successful works of art. Course topics will also include: color temperature, color contrast, mass principle, unity, balance, rhythm, foreshortening, mood and atmosphere. All art mediums are welcome!
